The Taxi relief Fund TRF is a once-off financial support programme by the Department of Transport (DoT) in collaboration with the National Empowerment Fund (NEF) to help mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the taxi industry. Each operator will qualify for a grant of R5 000.
It is intended for all minibus taxi and metered taxi operators, as well as e-hailing partners such as Uber, Bolt, Taxify. The funds to be paid only into the applicant’s account. Qualifying Criteria For Taxi Relief Requirements
In order to qualify for taxi relief fund, a taxi operator must:
- be a South African citizen or permanent resident in the Republic and
- be in possession of a valid operating license, or receipt as proof of application for renewal of an operating license.
- Must be registered for income tax with the South African Revenue Services

Documents required when applying for Taxi Relief Fund
Documents required ned not older than 3 months and can be uploaded direct on https//trf.transport.gov.za or email to taxirelief@dot.gov.za:
- Certified ID or Proof of Business registration
- Proof Residence
- Stamped Bank account Letter (Bank Confirmation Letter)
Proof of Tax Registration number to be provided on application.
